Terrifying Optical Illusion Of A Woman Only Visible At A Certain Angle Leaves People Freaking Out

For some inexplicable reason, optical illusions never fail to grab people’s attention. They might frustrate us or even creep us out, yet we can’t seem to look away from them. This time, the internet is captivated by a mind-boggling photo shared by none other than Joe Rogan, which features a terrifying image of a woman’s face hidden within a seemingly innocent picture of two children.

If this kind of optical trickery sounds familiar, you might recall stories about other illusions, like spotting a hidden object among a pile of similar ones. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of these puzzles, but somehow I always find myself diving into them.

If you’ve read some of my past articles, you’d probably notice a pattern—I have a love-hate relationship with optical illusions. But this isn’t about me. Let’s focus on the viral photo that has people all over the internet unsettled and mesmerized.

The image recently started circulating again, but it actually first made waves in August of last year. It was posted on Twitter by Josie Glabach, and since then, it has been viewed an astonishing 22 million times. Clearly, it struck a chord with many.

There are many ways to create optical illusions but picking up a plane out the sky is not something that would confuse the internet… unless it actually happenedGetty stock
The caption of the post read: “Nearsighted fam: take your glasses off and pull your phone away from you eyes. Look at the blonde girl.”

For anyone unfamiliar with the term “nearsighted” (or “shortsighted,” depending on where you’re from), let me explain briefly. The Mayo Clinic defines nearsightedness as: “Nearsightedness is a common vision condition in which close objects look clear but far objects look blurry.”

As someone who is shortsighted myself, I was able to spot the hidden woman after a few seconds. The photo itself features two children—a blonde girl and a brunette girl.

At first glance, it seems like a typical photo of two kids sitting on what appears to be a wall or bench, with some greenery in the background. But there’s more to this image than meets the eye.

If you want to see the woman in the photo, you’ll need to adjust your perspective. If you’re shortsighted, taking off your glasses might do the trick. For those with perfect vision, squinting might help. And if you’re longsighted, well, maybe try getting closer to the screen. I’m not an optician, so your mileage may vary.

Now, here’s the key: the woman’s face is angled at 45 degrees and is cleverly “drawn” onto the blonde girl. Her eyes are created by the shadows under the girl’s neck and within her hair. The woman’s nose appears in the bottom right part of the blonde girl’s hair.

Finally, the woman’s mouth is represented by a crease on the blonde girl’s jumper near her chest. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

While I doubt I’ll ever genuinely enjoy optical illusions, I can’t seem to stop attempting them. They always manage to pull me in, even if they leave me feeling a little uneasy afterward.
