It’s no secret that Prince Harry doesn’t see eye to eye with his family on a number of things, which is why he now resides in the US.

The 39-year-old prince’s memoir was potentially the most revealing glimpse into the life of a major Royal that the public has ever been granted.

In the book, Harry spoke about losing his virginity behind a pub, addressed the allegations against his uncle Prince Andrew, and even accused his older brother Prince William of physically attacking him at his home.

One incident, in particular, was one that allegedly occurred at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were living in 2019.

Harry described how his relationship with William had fallen apart following his marriage to US-born Meghan.

As detailed in Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries, Meghan suffered intense scrutiny at the hands of the British press, who Harry claimed spun a false narrative that painted her as a difficult diva who was only after Harry for his status and fame.

In his memoir, Harry writes that William had reportedly wanted to talk over “the whole rolling catastrophe” of the brothers’ strained relationship and how it had been played out in the press, but had arrived at Harry’s home already “piping hot.”

Now, in a new interview, The Duke of Sussex attributes his ongoing legal battles with British tabloids as a significant factor to the breakdown in relationships, alongside his family’s reluctance to challenge the media.

“I think that’s certainly a central piece to it,” Harry told ITV’s Rebecca Barry in the network’s new documentary, Tabloids on Trial.

He added: “But that’s a hard question to answer, because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press.”

The hour-long documentary examines the 2011 phone-hacking scandal and Harry’s numerous lawsuits against publishers in recent years.

“I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done, it would be nice if we did it as a family,” said the father of two.

“I believe that from a service standpoint and when you’re in a public role, these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. I’m doing this for my reasons.”

Harry expressed disappointment over his family’s lack of support, stating: “I think everything that’s played out has shown people what the truth of the matter is.”

He acknowledged that the issue has caused a rift, adding: “For me, the mission continues, but yes, it’s caused part of a rift.”
